Ecology is the scientific study of the processes influencing natural life and habitats and Ecosystem is a natural environment which includes the flora (plants) and fauna (animals) that live and interact within that environment, while Biodiversity is the variety of natural life and habitats on Earth.
This course is designed to equip students to; understand biodiversity and its value; identify the importance of biodiversity; obtain and communicate reliable, current, and accessible information on biodiversity; understand how to provide guidance to communities, governments, and businesses; identify appropriate mitigation measures to address negative biodiversity impact; identify biodiversity issues associated with each phase of the EIA project; understand and identify laws and regulations related to issues identified above and/or appropriate for the geographical region; and describe the existing environment in terms of the biodiversity issues identified.
