The functions of local government; maintenance of law and order, provision of local community education, provision of environmental maintenance and sanitation and provision of social services such as feeder roads etc. The inter-governmental relationship; between local government and state, local government and federal government, local government dichotomy etc. Posture of local governments in Nigeria as subordinated. The constitutional frame work on local government. Colonial legacy. Dependence on State governments. Local government and States joint account. Secondments from States to local governments. Brain drains etc. The sources of local government revenue and other sources of income. The problems of local government;rising poverty level, corruption, over dependence on State governments etc.
