This course, NEU-ECO 404 Applied Econometrics introduces undergraduate students to the practical application of econometric methods through a structured progression from data handling to empirical analysis. It begins with understanding data types, data cleaning, and descriptive statistics using Stata, SPSS, and EViews, followed by estimation and interpretation of simple and multiple regression models. Students develop skills in statistical inference, hypothesis testing, and the use of dummy variables for qualitative analysis. The course further covers diagnostic testing and remedial measures to address violations of regression assumptions, ensuring reliable results. It concludes with limited dependent variable models, basic time series analysis, and a hands-on empirical project that integrates theory, software application, and policy-relevant interpretation.
