This course is structured around a 10-week internship experience, supplemented by reflective assignments and an end-of-course presentation. During the internship, students will work with host organizations involved in international relations, including but not limited to diplomatic missions, United Nations (UN) agencies, regional organizations, foreign ministries, and international development NGOs. The internship will expose students to various aspects of international relations, including diplomacy, global governance, conflict resolution, international trade, security studies, human rights advocacy, environmental sustainability, and humanitarian assistance.
Engage with policy-making and diplomatic processes. Assist in the preparation of international reports and briefings. Participate in international negotiations and meetings. Support diplomatic outreach and public diplomacy initiatives. Analyze case studies of international conflict and cooperation. Assist in organizing international conferences and seminars. Conduct research on emerging global trends and their impact on national and international policies. Participate in advocacy for human rights, environmental issues, and global development. Gain experience in drafting policy documents, position papers, and diplomatic communiqués. Observe and participate in humanitarian missions and international aid distribution. Support project implementation and evaluation in international development programs. Learn about the coordination between different international stakeholders in addressing global challenges. Assist in monitoring and evaluation of international projects, using data and reporting tools. Participate in international media monitoring and public opinion analysis. Assist in promoting cross-cultural communication and understanding in international settings. Engage in professional networking and mentorship opportunities. Present a final reflective report that critically assesses their internship experience. Make a presentation summarizing key learnings and offering practical recommendations for their future careers in international relations.
