Cyber security is not only a technical discipline; it is also an ethical discipline. Cyber security professionals routinely make decisions involving privacy, confidentiality, surveillance, information access, intellectual property, disclosure of vulnerabilities, cybercrime, artificial intelligence, national security and the protection of individuals and organisations.
This course introduces students to the ethical principles that guide responsible behaviour in cyberspace. It examines major ethical theories and their application to cyber security, emerging ethical challenges created by technology, privacy and intellectual property, professional responsibilities, cyberlaw and governance, and global approaches to cyber security ethics.
The course also develops students' ability to critically evaluate cyber security policies and practices from ethical, professional and societal perspectives.- Teacher: Zakariya'u Suleiman
