The course psychological foundation of health behaviour will shape the students of public health in understanding and improving the psychology of health behaviour of people. It focuses on the theories of individual behaviour and outline the relationships between the various psychological variables, that forms the basis of personality and on which lifestyles, and health practices are hinged.
Specific health behaviour models will be presented to illustrate issues and situations and to clarify specific psychological behavioural actions. Definite examples will be cited so that the students will have a sound understanding of behaviour dynamics. Such specific examples motivate the student to design behavioural model-based intervention strategies. In addition the course highlights concepts relevant to group behaviour at difference stages of their developments and outcomes.
